Superbike-coach Cornering School Day 1 (2-23-20)

Well, another Superbike-coach Cornering School Day 1 in the books and what an awesome day it was...both with the weather and the students. Not only did we have a few students return and some new ones welcomed, but we also had a couple BRAND NEW riders.

The day starts off at 8am with each student checking in with Marion then seeing me (Dean Lonskey), the Photog, to get their lunches set up. By 9am, class is ready to start and all the students are created by Coach Can Akkaya. He starts off by introducing himself then goes into what brought him to where he is today with his riding classes, then it's off to the track for the students...giving them a chance to see the track and for Coach to watch. Once this session is over, the REAL fun and WORK gets started. As much as this is a class, it's done in a way where everyone has a great time.

Of course there are serious times but Coach always keeps things light and there is usually some friendly banter going on between Coach and his students. Oh, did I mention we had a couple newbies? I'm talking about the ones between completely brand new to only a few weeks of riding under their belt. One was so new, even taking off was a chore, and by the end of the day, both improved greatly. Yes, the classes taught by Coach Can are NOT just for those who have been riding for a few months to years, but also for those still learning to ride. THAT's the advantage of using the Little 99 Go-Kart track is Coach can see everything and there aren't any distractions. Yes, this is a "race track" but each of these 13 turns gives all the students practice with basically all kinds of turns they'd see out on the street.

At the end of the day, riders who take classes with Coach Can and Superbike-coach, not only learn better riding techniques and start their journey to being better/safer riders, but some even make new friends.
