Superbike-coach Rider/Passenger Class (10-4-20)

Are you a rider who has a passenger they take on a regular basis or even on a "once-in-a-while" basis? Or maybe you're one of those riders who has alwas gone on their own and now have someone in their life they'd like to include or wants to be included on your motorcycle rides but you've NEVER taken a passenger before?

In the past, you had to figure this out on your own using the "trial and error" method, hoping you've got things figured out or have enough ability to help you should you encounter an emergency situation. Thanks to Coach Can Akkaya of Superbike-coach Corp you now have a better choice...the Superbike-coach Rider/Passenger Class...NEW for 2020!Superbike-coach Rider/Passenger ClassSuperbike-coach Rider/Passenger ClassSuperbike-coach Rider/Passenger ClassSuperbike-coach Rider/Passenger Class

The purpose of this class is to help get both rider & passenger in sync, teach the passenger the BEST way of hanging on so the rider can maintain control (this varies based on the motorcycle being used). The passenger is also taught how be part of the "team" instead of just being "along for the ride". In addition to proper hand placement and sitting, Coach Can combines a few things from both Days 1 & 2 of his Cornering Schools and hasa BOTH working as a TEAM: Idle line, counter steering, and emergency braking.Superbike-coach Rider/Passenger ClassSuperbike-coach Rider/Passenger ClassSuperbike-coach Rider/Passenger ClassSuperbike-coach Rider/Passenger ClassSuperbike-coach Rider/Passenger Class

Much like all riding Superbike-coach riding classes, Coach sends his students in groups onto the track and watches each student & passenger, sometimes pulling them aside to give instruction and advise. After lunch, it's time for the all important "EMERGENCY BRAKING" drill. First, the rider is sent off without their passenger (passengers are with Coach at the braking area to observe and listen to Coach) for a few runs to practice first without the worry of having their passenger.

After that, it's time for the passengers to mount up. This is where the lessons of proper hand placement is very key and they find out FIRST HAND. This can be hazardous but this is the BEST place to practice this and find out just how it feels and what they are capable of in the event extreme braking is needed. Guess what, a couple actually figured out they can pull a stoppie! Sure, this is what Coach is teaching but that it shows it actually is possible and handled safely and not to be afraid of.Superbike-coach Rider/Passenger ClassSuperbike-coach Rider/Passenger Class

By the end of the day, both riders and passengers improved greatly and gained more confidence knowing they have the tools to have a more enjoyable ride. At the beginning of the day, there was one passenger that seemed a little nervous, especially when they were told one drill would be emergency braking, By the end of the day, she was no longer nervous and was actually thankful for the experience. There were even some couples that asked if they could even take the cornering classes offered!

In the 50 years I've been riding, the last 35 years being on the street, I've seen all kinds of motorcycle rider classes offered from your basic MSF course to your track-day courses, all geared for the rider only. With all the riders out there these days, many with passengers, I've always found this odd that there was never a class designed specifically just for this. I'm sure there are many riders out there saying "why, it's not that hard to figure out...what's so hard about this" but it really does change the dynamics of the ride. Just simply learning how to hold on as a passenger changes everything. Well, no more...thanks to Coach Can and Superbike-coach...there now is a class for this!

If you've ever ridden with a passenger or haven't and you have someone that really wants to be a part of your journey then you owe it to yourself AND your passenger, to check out this class. This class is only being offered once a year, and like ALL the Superbike-coach classes, they book out very quickly. The 2021 schedule is still in the works so keep an eye out for it. In the meantime, if you and your passenger would like to sign up for their Cornering School, by all means, contact Coach Can.
